IJOTR is the official journal of the International Society of Obstetric Fistula Surgeons (ISOFS). www.isofs.org
IJOTR was founded in recognition of the fact that there was the need for a freely accessible low cost journal of educational and research value for the obstetric fistula community that encompasses the wide ranging physical, social and psychological obstetric trauma encountered by those working in the field. We also recognise that skill in management of the obstetric fistula holds great relevance for the wider scientific community who are now beginning to realise that obstetric trauma consist of more than just perineal trauma.
We aim to expand the scientific college of the fistula community by encouraging contributions from promising scholars particularly from developing countries who may make important contributions to the field if they receive some help in improving their articles. We aim to provide such help where we think it is needed and justified.
This will enable access to new research and ideas by the less endowed parts of the scientific community, and provide wide circulation of ideas through open access.
